How We've Helped

"The Friends of the Edington have been in existence since 1990. They have been a very active group who have fundraised in order to improve the environment within the Edington for both the inpatients and the patients seen in the minor injury unit. Over the years the building has been refurbished and decorated to a high standard and televisions, radios and other items have been provided for patient comfort and benefit by the Friends. They also have enabled items of medical apparatus to be purchased for use within the community or within the Health Centre, all for the benefit of the patients of the North Berwick and Gullane area. Over the years special mattresses, infusion pumps and many other vital pieces of equipment have been purchased all through the generous funds from the Friends of the Edington. Within the Surgery modern ECG machines, blood pressure monitors, surgical equipment and many other appliances have been bought in order to improve the range of medical services available to patients in the North Berwick and Gullane area.

Over the past 25 years the Friends of the Edington have greatly improved the quality of care available to patients within the North Berwick and Gullane area. They have also made great efforts to improve the quality of life of patients in the Edington Hospital, particularly those patients whose health is failing dramatically. They have made a wonderful difference to the wellbeing of patients in this area and the Partners and staff of the Health Centre join me in thanking each and every Friend of the Edington for their very kind support which over the years have been put to wonderful use. We wish the Friends continuing success and support in their next 25 years."
